Build Support, Stability & Strength - One Layer at a Time

Strength in Layers

A 4-week progression-based yoga series

A 4-week progression-based yoga course - for women who thought yoga wasn’t for them

“I teach yoga to women who think yoga isn’t for them - because I used to think that too.”

I’m Alex. I have scoliosis. My left hip is higher than my right, one leg is longer than the other, and some yoga poses are simply not accessible to my body - and never will be.

I’ve been teaching yoga for years, not because I’m particularly flexible or resemble the women you see on Instagram, but because yoga genuinely makes me feel better. It helps me feel stronger, more grounded, and more comfortable in my own skin.

A few years back, menopause hit, I was diagnosed with lupus, and I completely burned out. I took a four-month break. When I returned to yoga, my body had changed, and I faced a decision: try to reclaim my old practice or accept where I was now.

I chose acceptance. I started using props and stopped focusing on achieving perfect poses. I even got rid of all the handstand tutorials I’d collected. Instead, I created a practice that suited my real body.

That’s how Strength in Layers came about. It’s designed for people like you.

You’ve been looking at the wrong picture

If you've decided that yoga isn't your thing, I want to suggest that maybe the image you have of it isn't quite accurate.

That image is out there, but it's not everything.

Unfortunately, it can discourage people like you from trying it out. Traditional yoga spaces haven't always considered different body types.

The issue isn't with you; it's more about not having been taught in a way that suits your body.

Start building a practice that belongs to you

This course is for you if…..

•        You’ve looked at yoga and thought: not me, not my body, not my level

•        Your body has a history - injury, illness, menopause, surgery, burnout, or simply years of being told it wasn’t enough

•        You’ve felt intimidated or out of place in yoga or fitness spaces

•        You want to build real, functional strength without pushing through pain

•        You’re ready to show up for yourself in a way that actually feels good

You don’t need to arrive ready. You just need to start where you are.

What “Strength in Layers” actually means

Every movement in this course begins with the basics and gradually becomes more complex. It's not that the basic version is easier or less important; rather, genuine strength develops step by step, not all at once.

Take boat pose. Most yoga classes show you the full expression: both legs straight, arms extended, completely balanced. If you looked at that and thought “not for my body” - you’re right, that version isn’t where we start.

We start with lifting one foot off the ground. That’s it. That’s the pose. From there, when your body is ready, you lift the second foot. You progress when it feels right - not when a clock or an instructor tells you to.

Every movement in this course works this way.

How the four weeks unfold

What's Inside :

Week 1 - Breath & Core Support

We begin inside. Learn to create deep internal support through breath and core engagement - the foundation everything else builds on.

Week 2 - Lower Body Strength

Build stability and strength from the ground up. Legs, hips, and the base that carries you through your day.

Week 3 - Upper Body Strength

Develop support and control through your shoulders and arms. Strength that helps you in your actual life, not just on the mat.

Week 4 - Integration

Bring everything together. Full-body strength, fluid movement, and a practice that now belongs to you.

What’s inside the course

•        12 x 20-minute yoga classes (3 new classes per week across 4 weeks)

•        2 x live sessions - one to open the course together, one to close it out

•        Lifetime access - this is yours to return to whenever you need it

•        Fully self-paced, all pre-recorded - move through it in your own time

•        Bonus: Private community access

•        Bonus: “Movement Layers Guide” (PDF) - how to know when to progress, how to modify for your body, what to expect, and how to set up a safe practice at home

•        Bonus: “Low Energy Practice Companion” (PDF mini-guide) - how to stay connected to movement on difficult days

By the end of four weeks

•        You’ll understand what works for your body - not a generic version of it

•        You’ll feel stronger, more stable, and more supported in your movements

•        You’ll move with more ease and confidence in everyday life

•        You’ll know how to build strength from your core - not just your muscles

•        You’ll have started trusting your body again

And maybe most importantly: you’ll realise that strength isn’t about pushing harder. It’s about building better support.

If you’re thinking…

“I’m too stiff.”  Good. This course was designed for that body.

“I’m not strong enough to start.”  That’s exactly why we start in layers. You don’t need strength to begin. You build it here.

“My body has too many issues.”  So does mine. You’re in the right place.

“I’ve tried yoga before and it wasn’t for me.”  You tried one version of yoga. This is a different one.

The door is wider than you think

Yoga doesn’t ask you to be flexible. It doesn’t ask you to believe anything different, look a certain way, or arrive with a particular kind of body. It asks you to show up.

Strength in Layers opens on 30 June. It’s built for the woman who’s been watching from the outside. The one who looked at yoga and thought: not me.

This is also yoga. And you’re also welcome.

Review

*****

"I don’t usually do yoga, because it’s so hard on the body, and I always injure my back. With this, I didn’t feel any strain at all…it was both challenging and freeing." Julia
